anyone know the ID for the first track on the unlock your soul side?
Side 2 starts off with sounds from an old BBC sound effects record, then it goes into ”Nexus 1 – ‘Yo Body”.
Yea Omar is right. But on this tape Doc is only using the acappella from the record.
I used to play this one allll da time! I loved hearing Doc get so acidy on the unlock your soul side…this tape influenced me greatly. Few tracks your missing….
Rhythm Workshop-are you ready?
TZ-9
Chris Simmons-Tinkerbell (Doc gave me a copy of this a couple years ago after bugging him about it for over a decade…lol Maybe it was the copy thats on this tape.)

Euphorhythm-Patrik (TUNE!)
Anyways…..enjoy. I did.
Doc Martin is da mann. I have been going to events since 1991.This man will Hypnotize you even if you don’t want to feel the bomb ass House music.. I was a hard core criminal Doc Martin saved my life.. I have’nt been da same ever since..it’s now 2010 and big bad Doc still fucking it up..Viva LOS ANGELES… PURO’ DOC MARTIN” Loyal customer..House Music will always be sick Thanx to Mr.DOC MARTIN… Don’t Ever Forget. THE WEST IS DA BEST…..Thank You Doc….
“Last night a DJ saved my life!”
i love this mix…especially side 2.
i still have it on cassette….but have no cassette player : (
thx for postin!
I love “toenee’ gee’s ” comment above. That is the atmosphere that signified the LA Underground scene (before it became “the rave scene). I remember my first one was in February of 91… Some small venue that I can’t remember the name of, but we left after a couple hours and went to the bigger Willy Wonka’s.
The Paw Paw Patches were the bomb. Davin rocked the scene for a long time at the Casa with those. So many memories in the early days at the Casa. If there ever was a “regular” venue for the scene in the early days I think the Casa was it.
I can remember going in and seeing people from every color, tribe, and nation… white, black, hispanic, asian, gangbangers, you name it… but everyone just groovin’ and getting along.
House music, and electronica in general, transcends all of those barriers that we erect between ourselves.
Well said Hans and Toenee! The Casa…..So many good times there! ESP,TRON,PIPI’S PLAYHOUSE,PAW PAW PATCH.etc etc..If you couldnt find the map point in ’91…just go to the Casa.Just dont leave anything valuable in your car.lol
Josh, I remember ALL of those and so many more. Pipi’s… Wow. Yeah, the Casa was in the hood. What was it… Washington and Hill or something crazy like that?
Synergy was a great party there.
Then you bail and hit Flammable… then Sketch Pad… good times.
Synergy was excellent! One of my first parties!
My first party was at The Casa, called Radiance. You got a flashlight at the mappoint. January 1991. I was hooked instantly. :)
It would be dope to see the (Feel The Release/Sounds You Can Feel) mix tape on this site. That was another classic Doc tape. I wonder where KMW is at these days, she had a really sick collection of stuff.
Love This Site!
You know, there used to be a Myspace Group called “Mixtapes”. Some girl on there, initials MW (?), once posted a link to a bunch of her Doc mixes…it was incredible! I downloaded like 10 mixes out of 40 before the link expired. The only problem…everything was recorded at the lowest possible bit rate! 96 kbps! : (
Still, some great stuff: Deep Intense Paradise, Green X and Ham, Lift 1991, Vertigo, S.O.U.L., Sunday Love, KCRW radio show 1993, 100% Technotronic, etc.
Does anybody know about a mixtape that Doc Martin did at the Ministry of Sound in London between 1993 or 1995? I bought it back in they days in L.A. at Beat Non Stop. It is a Trip Hop mix that he did, yet very soulful ,and the beats were banging. It had Live at Ministry of Sound with a baby blue label? If so, please post on this website. Doc always took it to another level, no matter the genre’.
I’m aware of one called “Ministry Of Celebration”. That it?
On the subject of Doc tapes, does anyone remember a tape called ‘Feel The Release/Sounds You Can Feel’?
It came out in ’93 and had a light purple label. I’ve been trying to track it down for many years with no luck.
does anyone know this house track that Doc played.. with female vocal: “lord are you with me all of the time” “lord tell me are you still in my life.”
Thank you
Bugz
found it: Just Us (Blakdoktor Dub Mix) on sublevel music
Thanks for posting! I’ve been a fan of Doc since I was about 14 years old.. Used to have several of his tapes including this one!
Does anyone know the name of the third (?) track on the Unlock Your Mind side, that has the sample “Stop… Stop…. Do you want to?…. Stop me.”
Thanks SO much for keeping this alive!!!
John from Buffalo
On – Love Want – Discolated Hip Recordings. It’s up there in the track list.

Been trying to find the track with the hama chant that comes in after king of the funky zulus for decades. I’ve bought the shaker song record twice on two different labels hoping that one of them would be the mix he uses here, but no luck.
I haven’t been able to find the track he mixes in after open your mind and before let there be house either. Oh, and the ever elusive unstoppable as well…fucken’ Doc!
Your comment made me smile man!! Ha!! Fucking Doc!! What a LEGEND. Your right there is another track there after 3 Phase! Good spot! Dude, your mixes on Mixcloud!! So good man!! Keep up the great work!!

Happy Halloween. Vibratory Energy Lives on.
Can’t remember what tape this was on but think it’s a Doc unknown: R-Earth “R-Edit”
Cheers.
Siiick track Nature Boy!! Yes, I’ve heard it before too.
Yo, Nature Boy! That R-Earth track is on Doc’s U.H.F. tape side 1 towards the middle.
This mix is so imprinted on my mind, that if I hear any of these records in isolation, I begin to hear the next record in the mix.
Whoa! That R-Earth – R-Edit track!
Beautiful. I never knew it was sped up.
This tape has so mnay tracks there were pitched down, and here is one that was sped up.
Love it.
Omar, any luck on the “hama chant record?
The track that is tucked in between Funky Zulus and the Shaker song?
I feel like I’ve heard it somewhere, or on another tracklist. And it’s an actually faster song but Doc has it pitched down in this mix.
Peace and Health.
If it helps at all, that “Hama chant” record uses a piece of Master Blaster by Joint Venture. Or maybe they both use a piece from an entirely different record?
A1 sitar track

Kudo’s Rob for the Kitaro tip. I found another Doc track. Not sure it’s been ID’d or not. I think it’s from UHF too. En Masse “Feel The Mantra” (Vox mix) : )
