Barry Weaver – Untitled (1991)

This is an untitled mix that was contributed by Josh McClintock. We believe it’s a 1991 mix by Barry Weaver, though we’re not 100% sure. It certainly has all of the characteristics of a Barry Weaver mix though — the dreamy intro, the train in the middle, lots of breakbeat, tight tight mixes, and an incredible selection of tunes. This is an instant favorite!

A friend of mine gave me this mix in 1991 and told me it was Barry Weaver. It was 3rd or 4th generation so the quality is poor but its just too good not to post. To this day it remains one my favorite mixes. Fucking incredible. Especially when you consider the year it was made. A mix that I judge other mixes by. I will post a track list shortly….and yes there are a bunch of tunes I dont know. If anybody can name just one of the id’s it would make my day. Been hunting every tune on here since I first heard this. ENJOY!!!

Thanks Josh for passing this “lost” mix over to Jason and thanks Jason for posting the mix! Uh, Josh, I’d love to know the story behind how Therese ended up with a copy of this mix. Yes, it’s definitely me! And I totally remember making this mix too – the Le Mystère Des Voix Bulgares meets Moody Blues on the first side intro and that Self Help record at the start of side two are trademark “me”, as is the use of the train. Also, the “it’s not over, it’s____over” (from one of those DMC Loops And Grooves volumes) trick at the end of side two is a dead giveaway…
I have no idea why it was not released, or what my intention was for this mix. I couldn’t begin to tell you what it was going to be called. If I had to make a guess I’d say it might have been intended as a next Milky Way tape, but I’m not really sure. Hell, I wouldn’t have been able to even pinpoint the year I made it, so if you say 1991, I’ll buy that! Oh, and thanks guys for IDing most of the tracks! Appreciate it.

Awesome backstory to the mix. Thank you Barry! That Le Mystere track is so beautiful! I will have to ask Therese how she got this mix!!! hahaha Pretty sure it was a close friend of yours gave it to her.

Side A, The Rockin to the Rhythm track sounds like a remix of Yello – The Race?

Great Mix Barry, Thanks for posting it up Josh.
Anyone have more of the DREAM series tapes? The Jon Williams one has already been posted but I recall that Barry’s and Bishop’s tapes were completely sick! Still kicking myself for not keeping better track of those tapes back then. Great times back then, always remembered, friends never forgotten…
Cheers guys..

I have a friend that has the complete DREAM series. A lot of them came with weird titles and no DJ names but my friend deciphered those as well. I’ve been waiting to see what he does with it. The DREAM parties were incredible. Truly excellent. They were mostly around ’94 or ’95 but had an ’91 feel to them. Many FANTASTIC sets were played there.

I know it as “B-Dub One” and it was the first tape I owned with “Go” on it.

“B-Dub One”? Wow! Dope info! I have B-Dub 2 and could never find the 1st one. Guess I had it all along. Does it say “B-Dub One” on the tape?

It does but it’s in my friend’s writing, not a pre-recorded copy.
