This unreleased DJ Trance mixtape was recorded live, in December 1995, at “Joy” by F.A.M.I.L.Y. The voice on side B, at about 34:00, is Just Jhymn. Thanks for contributing this tape JB!

This flyer (click link), clearly a high end design by some sort of graphic art veteran, was imagined, created, and manufactured at the Kinko’s off of Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. At best recollection, this was the combination of Microsoft Word (back of flyer) and finding a Christmas card for sale at Kinko’s, with an alien head sticker cut to form and placed over Santa’s face. Yes, by hand analogue freestyle. I still have the original. hahahah

Nice post JB.
can’t take credit for the post, all jason from simfonik! actually i found this tape, my ex girl kept listening to it over and over the past year, finally figured it must be okay… so i figured simfonik was the perfect outlet for it. i also wanted to give it to jason from simfonik as a gift in for all he has done for all of us with this website. getting cassettes onto digi-files is a lot of work, thanks J! anyway, glad u enjoy the tunes… kind of sounds like a “greatest hits of 95-96″ set to me, heaven!
Mr. Blakemore, you rocked the FAMILY parties. It’s always been a pleasure being on the bill with you. RESPECT!
And to Jason aka Simfonik, yes… a huge thank you for all the good things you do here! So awesome to relive some of these wonderful memories!
thanks for posting this j!
What’s the name of the “you don’t understand this that’s happening right now” track. Btw what up shane
Oh and is that Mark from GVC that posted ???
Wow, there is something so cool and unique about 1990’s s. cal trance.
@DJ Kram
Sorry, no I’m not Mark from the Good Vibe Crew. I’m just a huge DJ Trance fan from way back =)
I miss hearing this stuff on a gigantic wall of speakers like we all used to. Since all this stuff is digitized now, it would be awesome if the DJs these days would just take a short break once in a while and play one of these classic sets for us all to hear again.
Thanks Mr. Blakemore and Mr. Simfonik!!!
Hey Trance, do you have a copy of your set from global gathering or care a lot from 96 ? The global tape was my favorite, you started with tilly lilly – roller coaster and then went into The Hypnotist -death by dub, and then mixed in and out of current releases and earlier 90’s tracks. Hey Shane you still have copies of those tapes fool ???
Dammmit…..Jase,
The only rock I know stays steady….You the man~
Awesome mix!! :D

THANK YOU FOR THE LOVE. F.RIENDS A.ND M.USIC I. L.OVE .YOU. Jason you always rocked it. Hope to see you guys out soon @ F.A.M.I.L.Y
^ Then why dont you book JB at F.A.M.I.L.Y. parties anymore?
At the time he had a certain price that I could not match. Times were slow. I would not make a promise that I could not deliver on. Jason has always rocked it. He did play a couple of years ago on NYE at the Nob Hill. It was a awesome set.
OMG! A tape with “Feel Cool” by Top Kat on it!! One of the definitive stompers from LA during that era.
Man, I forgot all about this… I used to rock the shit out of these tapes, he was the man, these were the parties…..
and holy crap…
Jhymm – Thank you so much for doing your parties, they were the best, and one of the reasons I kept on going out, promoting, and doing our own parties.
I feel pretty nostalgic and old now, but man, I don’t know what I would have done without all the music, memories, and good times I had from 92 on….
Thanks you to Jason (Dj Trance), Jhymm, and all the other people that made these parties so memorable.
Whats up Doug and Joey? I miss the old days with you guys!
Who has the link or recording to “Mindscratch”?
42 COMMENTS??!! damn guys, that’s what’s up!
all good Jared, glad u were there! =]
I found a couple of tapes of Jason Blakemore (DJ Trance) as well as an old N2O tape. How do we go about getting them up here?
Oh man…this has just made me so damn happy. I don’t have nearly enough of these, and “DJ Trance” was an icon for me at the time.
YES. I’ve been searching for this kind of tape for years….literally.
94-96 were epic years
love this sight!!!! keep bring it.love ya!!!!!!!!!!!
First time I did X…
Those WERE the days!
