This mixed tape, from 1993, is by San Francisco DJ Ernie Munson. The j-card for the tape was made by Ernie.

I’m not sure where he is these days, nobody I know is, but listening to this and many of his other tapes that I’ve been digitizing makes me wish I could hear him play out again.

  2. I used to go to these parties back in the day in Sacramento. They were great. I believe this one went down in the basement of a downtown Sacramento building off of 10th street.

  3. Wish I could here Ernie Munson again, had great memories w/ him on the decks! In LA and SF. He use to JAM!

  4. This was either late ’93 or ’94, can’t remember. By the looks of the cassette, I recorded that off DAT for Ernie… how’s you get a copy, Lou? LOVING it.

FYI, at Wicked I found out that Ernie’s been in the UK for a number of years now.

The downtown location you speak of Rudy was the basement of the Capital Plaza Towers. Loved that sweaty, spring loaded dance floor amidst the secret underground storage tunnels!

  5. Yo, Peter! It’s Billy Mitchell. I always had a blast at your parties and enjoyed playing them too! Do you have a DAT of any of my sets from your parties? Would love a copy. ;)

    Hope all is well!

  6. Yeah, sweet mix! This was right around the time of my first Ooga Booga party.. something magical about those daze.. ooga booga, combined with wicked full moons, and sunset parties… where did it all go?

  7. it’s all still happening, in one way or another. lots of dubstep and playa dust now. warehouses with broadband internet access. goggles, steampunk and fire fire fire.

  8. The B-side (22:45) track from Holy Ghost is the other song on that release “Mad Monks On Zinc”
