If you want the taste with juicy hits, you’ll love a premium bass style. Most others add water to concentrate but Citrusonic pure premium bass style is NOT from concentrate. There’s nothing added and nothing taken away. So SHAKE IT!

This mixed tape was recorded live, in May of 1992, at Citrusonic and features the sounds of Doc Martin. A number of the Citrusonic flyers, along with some T-Shirts, were designed by Fresh Jive. More mixes from Doc are available here

  1. Thank you for sharing this. The track Doc plays right before FSOL is Mental Cube – Chile Of The Bass Generation. Jeno used to play this alot also.

  2. Side B
Track Right before Bobby Konders – nervous Acid is :
Original Rockers – Rockers To Rockers

  3. Yes!… loved that little dank, dark club on Highland. Wish I would have kept my membership card.

I still drive by that place and crave as deep a night out.
    Thanks for posting.

  4. Hey, I am surprised. I always assumed this recording was the “Deep Urban Breakdown: Live at Citrusonic” mixtape, but it is not. This is a completely different mix! I have the DUB tape and posted it on the Mixtapes Forum awhile back. It has a lot of the same tunes, but definitely a different mix.

I wonder how many Live at Citrus mixtapes there are out there???

    Thanks for this.

  5. wow wow wow been searching for years for this part of my music past and let me tell you this music reminds me of some of the best times of my life …………..liberty, freedom ,rave, death forever

  6. I still have the Jive Tshirt and my citrusonic membership card. Actually I should say my ex-wife has them. Bitch!

  7. I think this tape might be another original Milky Way Rave Recording. I seem to remember producing this one, but I could be wrong.

  8. Sue Dread (host)anyone know where she is today Good People.Oh How I Miss Those Early 90s Kicking it at Doc’s pad in the Hollywood Hills after the club. We Were So Lucky to have been in the scene back when the vibe was so Fresh “Jive”…Beat non Stop till ya drop..We All just got a time machine with all this underground classics bring it back way back Thanks a million for all the dope mixes i wish i could give back some of my tape collection but there long gone…

  9. Sue is still around. She throws Balance at King King in Hollywood, twice a month. I first met her at Happy Wednesdays on the Redondo Beach pier a million years ago. 1991 or 92. Anyone else go?

  10. Happy Wednesdays, I was there and at Citrusonic.
We’d go out almost every night of the week:

    Tuesdays- was Exxon in downtown,
    Wed- Citrusonic,
Thursdays- Joy at the Troubador or Happy House OC,
Fridays More afterhours, Sat RAVES then Flammable Liquid.
Family Groove at the Shark club was in there somewhere too.
    Sunday- Sketch Pad!

    SHEESH- how did I survive?
Oh I know- I was really young!

  11. Oh man, I almost forgot about Joy at the Troubador. I always did Sunday Love too. Otter Pops!! :)

  12. I remember Happy Wednesdays. I met Rudy there and next day he introduced me to Sue. Great people!

  16. Doc laying down a heavy breakbeat set at Citrusonic!! So dope!! He really only played that style for a couple years. I love how at the 23:00 minute mark on side one (if you listen closely) you can hear that the needle picked up the crowd downstairs on the dancefloor going off. I bet Frank Ramirez or Randy J could help spot a few tracks on this one.

  17. Frank Ramirez spotted 2 jams on here. Track 12 on side 1 right before Mental Cube is “Music Whit a Beat – Amazone Trek”. And the missing 3rd track on side 2 is “The Psychopaths – Beats and Culture”. Thanks buddy!!
