Barry Weaver – Trip Train

barry-weaver
This mixed tape by Barry Weaver, from 1992, was released by Milkyway Productions (Mike Paris). I ran into Mike several years ago, he’s working in real estate, and he didn’t have any tapes saved unfortunately. These Milkyway rave tapes are pretty elusive now; so if anyone has any others, especially the Steve Loria one, please let me know.

cloBBer Rave Clothing Advertisements

cloBBer was a Los Angeles (La Mirada to be more precise) based clothing company, started by Thomas Gallo and Silas Hickey, that operated from 1991-1993. Silas Hickey still works as a designer and is based out of Australia. Below are two 1992 ad creatives from cloBBer.

Old School Freshjive Designs (Part 1)

T-shirts, among other things, have been something I’ve obsessively collected over the years. The designs of late ’80s and early ’90s streetwear brands, like Fresh Jive/Raw Vibes, CloBBer, Anarchic Adjustment, Q-Ambient, Gypsies & Thieves, etc… were, and remain, my favorite.

The below graphics are from Rick Klotz’s Freshjive / Raw Vibes label. The first one is the original Tide parody shirt from 1989. The second one, Fresh Jive Beats, was one of my favorites and came in a variety of colorways. There’s something about these shirts that make me smile to this day. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia factor, the memories of where I wore them and the events of those times; regardless of what it is, I doubt I’m alone and thought I’d take some time to pay homage to these old school rave/skate t-shirts that were part of my youth.

If you have any classic Freshjive, CloBBer, 26red, Anarchic Adjustment, or other rave oriented streetwear brands from the late 80’s early 90’s that you would be interested in parting with please let us know.

fester-trance-fester-1

This mixed tape was released by DJ Trance (a.k.a. Jason Blakemore) and DJ Fester, in June of 1992, and was the first of four tapes they made together. If you were going to clubs like No Doz, Dare and What? back in 1992 chances are you wore out one of these tapes – you can see by the images above that mine was very well loved.

The tracklisting below is mostly complete, with some “I don’t knows” and some “I can’t remembers” here and there; several between “House Nation” and “Let It Move You”, on the Fester side. If you can fill in any blanks please post IDs in the comments.
